NABJ—GET A PRODUCTIVE LIFE!

Over the past six years, this administration—with the pusillanimous collusion of the supposed “party of opposition”—has managed to plunge us into irrevocable adventurism in the Middle East. At the same time, it radically has reduced the constitutional prerogatives of ALL of us.

Taking into account the foregoing, how is it that the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) has had the time to obsess over ONE offensive remark by a TV/radio personality who, through his career, reputation, income and months-long banishment from the air, has been considerably chastised, according to any normal standard? This has not been sufficient punishment for the NABJ; it seeks its pound of flesh by having Imus permanently barred from the airwaves.

Over the years, within the context of his perverse humor, Don Imus has made offensive comments about women, Jews, gays, blacks, Hispanics the Irish, Poles, Catholics and Asians—you name it. It was just by chance that the remark about the women basketball players became his undoing.

To make sense of this unconscionable pursuit by the NABJ, I suspect that Don Imus’s previously brutal, non-stop satirization of Ted Kennedy, as well as Hillary and Bill Clinton, may be the invisible impetus that seems to have put so much inordinate power into the hands of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the NABJ.

All of Imus’s comments were made within the sphere of hardball comedy. Nothing he ever said was anymore shocking than that said by a great number of the other comedians extant.

Apparently, NABJ and the reverends have never listened to the daily, three-hour-long, national radio talk-show, “The Savage Nation.” The hose, Michael Savage, (while irate and screaming) says much more perfidious things about racial, religious and sexual minorities of all stripes—local, national and international—and he ain’t jokin’—he means every word he says!
