SYNAPSE-SHOTS 2008-6
A GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY

Connie and Ken were wed
Some fifty years ago.
Although some voices said
That it should not be so.

West Philly was their home,
And still it is today.
They tended not to roam;
Now, steamships make their day.

Two daughters grace their world,
Both Dawn, and Kendall, too.
Two spirits were unfurled,
Blended in Lyons’ hue.

Let’s not forget the Longs;
They had a hand in there.
Their spirits float on songs,
To grace those ladies fair.

Imagine all of this,
With Connie and with Ken;
The unabated bliss
Within the Lyons’ den.

But, wait, I overstate--
Of course, their lives are good--
But, I exaggerate;
No good is all that good.

As all of us who breathe
With constancy the air,
The Lyons’ breasts, too, heave,
When life seems so unfair.

But, struggle on, they will,
As well we all must do,
To conquer every hill,
And every mountain, too.

So, on their earnest part,
The Lyons and the Longs,
Best wishes from the heart,
Despite life’s rights or wrongs.

May all the years you’ve spent
Together and in touch,
Add up with blessings sent
To crown you both as much

As you impart in kind
To others on your way,
And may they tighter bind
Thee two, on this thy day.
