BARAK TO THE BARRICADES!

”Ready, aim, fire!” Get out your flak suit, BHO, that moment we all knew was coming is here.“ The artillery has been loaded and you have been zeroed in on from all sides. Incoming!”

It was so subtle that it came upon them before they were aware it was happening. The Right-wing was so intent upon destroying the hated Clintons that it took them by surprise. Who would have thought that they could do such a good job on her that she would be finished off in the primaries (obviously, not officially, as yet). They turned around and—“Oh, no! What have we wrought? You mean we’re going to have to run against that skinny, little uppity, uh…--You’ve got to be kidding! We didn’t hate Hillary that much!”

So there they are. Now, they’ve got to come up with some sort of “Swifty” equivalent that will take care of this “uh…” fast—even if they have to put clothes pins on their noses and elect that also-hated, traitor-to-the-cause John McCain. Even he would be preferable to that “uh…”

Now they are going to have to use that sticky stuff that the Clinton’s were loathe to—actually, what they dared not use. Much to their surprise and delight, Minister Farrakan publicly allows as to how he considers Barak Obama as akin to the Second Coming. The damn fool should have realized that, with his reputation and extensive film and print archive of outlandish rhetoric, any praise form him would be tantamount to annihilation! Even Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have had the good sense to lie low.

Then, there is BHO’s pastor, also with hefty baggage, which includes an award to the toxic Farrakan! Although the church’s theme is very heavily Black-unity oriented—a reaction to the history of marginalization—it also stresses self-reliance and a strong family value system. This, of course is what the right-wingers have suggested for “uh…” all along, isn’t it? That was then; this is now. They have begun to turn those African American self-help themes back upon them, twisting its intent and relating it, ironically, to the white supremacy and bigotry that gave it life.

Those are just the opening volleys. Look for the continued, Internet-borne urban legends about BHO’s religion and patriotism. Also, there are tortured attempts to tie him to a former member of the Weather Underground, which was active during Barak’s childhood. In short, any suspect associations, past or present, no matter how slight, will be thrown against the wall to see what sticks.

OK, Barak, we know you are as surprised as we are. Surprised or not, you’re in the really big leagues, now, and it ain’t gonna be easy. Don’t get ahead of yourself and don’t let ‘em see you sweat! It’s comin’ in fast and furious, and it ain’t gonna stop!
