SYNAPSE-SHOTS 2008-12
IF . . .

IF all of the presidents of the United States had not been men; white’ non-Jewish; non-Muslim; or non-any religion that did not border upon “Christian;” never would they have had a chance to become president.

IF George W. Bush had not been a man; white; a Bush; had not had a brother as governor of Florida; a Florida secretary of state frenzily purging the voting rolls of African Americans; and a 5-4 majority on the supreme court; thousands of families would not be mourning their dead; and tens of thousands of misused service people would not be having to adjust to life sans limbs, eyes and fully functional minds.

IF Hillary Clinton had not been unlucky enough to run on the same slate with the only other person who could challenge her with regard to the Black vote, she would have had the nomination tied up long before even Super-duper Tuesday.

IF Barak Obama, who was born to a White mother and reared in a multi-racial environment, had not discovered early-on that in America one had to belong to a tribe in order to have legitimacy; and that he never would be accepted as a member of his mother’s tribe; and had not worked hard to become a member of his father’s tribe/ and had not educated himself and honed his natural talents to razor-sharp perfection; and had not had the intestinal fortitude to believe that he could overcome; and had not been prescient enough from the get-go (as was I) to have divined the idiocy of abandoning the destruction of Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden for an invasion of Iraq…

IF a preponderance of the American people had not long ago become disenchanted with the misbegotten war; destruction; death; maiming; and the loss of our nation’s treasurer down a Middle East rabbit hole; suffered humiliating deception as our domestic infrastructure and economy sank into the toilet; endured the insane insistence upon war without end; and had not been aching for someone—of any hue or gender—who had the potential to set things right in Washington...

IF Geraldine Ferraro were not frustrated at seeing the barrier, which she first attempted to breach, again stjpi;d…

That was yesterday. Today, however, we shall see that Barak, with all his smarts, was not perceptive enough to know that his toxic pastor and the equally toxic Minister Farrakan would be anathema to him in national politics.

In Barak’s search for identity, he should have looked for a quiet Episcopal church.
