ONE RACE / ONE PLANET

If Barak Obama does happen to be the one who raises his hand in that cold, January scene (that long ago should have been taken indoors), this is the speech that only he could give:

My fellow Americans,

I am not just African American. I am not just European American. I am not just Kenyan. I am not just Scots-Irish. No one is just this or just that. The one thing that we all are, completely, is human, Homo sapiens sapiens. Regardless of what our history, culture or politics may tell us, we are one of countless species, isolated upon a jot of dust, floating interminably amidst a sea of nothingness, full of other miniscule jots of dust.

Thus reducing ourselves to our most common denominator, from this point in time, we should begin to repair the almost immutable damage we have done to ourselves. Apart from the physical affliction, we must begin to peel off the overlays of psychoses which have accumulated since our cognitive powers began to exceed that of the other species. We have combined those powers with the physical attributes of the earth to enhance our existence far beyond that of any other creature in this world. In so doing, we have carried along with us many of the feral instincts that were required to compete with the other beings, when we were on their level. This failure, combined with the scientific and technical advances of our kind, has been a great hindrance in our attempt to maintain the progress of our humanity at the same pace as that of our material advances.

So, here we are, a lot further along in that regard than many of us might have imagined. Here, in these United States, where the world has come to reside, where the vision of those great minds burst forth which forged the first palpable “cri de Coeur” for our species to wrest control of itself from those manufactured forces that would control us for their own, selfish ends. We have struggled mightily to flesh out the promise for humankind that are indelibly sketched in those founding documents.

Here, on this day, at this time, we offer ourselves as proof to the world that the American experiment is not a fluke. Here, upon this day, and at this time, we re-dedicate ourselves as Americans, as citizens of the world, as a part of the human community, to lift the lamp of the Lady of the Harbor to a point where it may be seen from any corner of this globe upon which we reside. Right here, right now, a this very time, we solemnly resolve peaceably to promote the ideals and resources of our democracy to the benefit of every nation and all peoples upon the face of the earth.

I think you should send this Synapse-Shot to the Obama headquarters. It has many concepts and turns of phrase that his writers/handlers may well wish to use in the Inauguration speech.
