SYNAPSE-SHOTS 2008-55
ITEM: Yesterday’s 9/15, Black Monday, Wall Street implosion is being compared with 1929’s Black Thursday and the physical destruction of September 11, 2001.

With the punctuation mark thus being set for him, why does not Barack Obama divest himself of his professorial gown and nuanced, didactic pronouncements, and get out into the streets with a language tailored for the 51 per cent of the populace he needs to reach:

“I’ve already said, ‘Enough!’ What more do you need? The Bush Administration and John McCain have been so generous with corporate welfare that your very savings, pensions and retirements are in jeopardy!
• The party of Bush and McCain has slaughtered too many of our people and others in an unnecessary war
• The party of Bush and McCain has overseen one of the most corrupt administrations in modern times
• The party of Bush and McCain, literally, has put the United States in hock with a sneaky China and other foreign interests
• The party of Bush and McCain has proven that it is more interested in building construction projects in the Middle East---including dozens of PERMANENT BASES in Iraq—than it is in saving Americans from drowning and our bridges from falling down
• The party of Bush and McCain will protect the Big Oil guys, no matter what you have to pay at the pump

“If you want to extend to twelve years the incredible inefficiency of the Bush and McCain party, then McCain is YOUR pain!”

That is all he needs to say in the streets—indeed that is all that will be understood! He can save his genteel expositions for the debates and high-level interviews, which impress only the wonks and waverers.

ITEM: John McCain--peeking askance from the obscurity to which he had condemned himself after plucking a northern star out of the Alaskan sky to help light his bumbling way—emerged Monday, mumbling precisely the very same utterings of Herbert Hoover, just before he ushered in the Great Depression: “The fundamental economic structure of the country is sound.”

ITEM: Sarah is not what she seems. Ed Schultz, the progressive radio host, held an open community forum in Alaska. He wanted an on-the-spot assessment of how Governor Sarah Palen is regarded on her home turf:

• She is not a barracuda, but a killer whale, devouring everything between Alaska and Hawaii
• Like Santa Clause, she keeps a list—of her political enemies
• The touted 2,000 greeting her on her return was under 500, including her hometown band
• Contrary to her original claims, she and McCain have established a protective ring around “Troopergate.”
• She denounced the “Bridge to Nowhere,” only after it was denied by Congress—but still kept the money
• She lies about her appetite for pork
• Aping machine politics, her popularity is based upon patronage
• Not only is she against abortion for rape victims, she makes the woman pay for the rape kit
• Despite her husband’s status as an Intuit octoroon, her reputation with Native Alaskans is dismal
• The governor’s plane she claimed was sold on eBay—at a profit—actually was sold in a private deal—at a loss
• The governor’s cook she claimed to have fired was shuffled to another position—but continued to cook for the kids
• Alaskans did not know that she, improperly, was collecting per diem while living at home
• Since she is against sex education, pre-marital sex and abortion, what explains her flaunting before the world her still-unmarried, six-months-pregnant teenage daughter—along with the co-opted teenage father?

One would like to say that the Founders would be appalled at our obsession with lipstick and pigs, but, alas, they would not. That type of tomfoolery has been a staple of U.S. politics since George Washington. Despite—or, perhaps, because of it—still we survive, Come what may in November, we shall continue to survive!

What more do you need????
Well, I for one, need to see someone PAY for 9/11. Let's start with Osama bin Laden and his crew. BUT, more importantly, WHO was responsible for allowing a known enemy to be able to plan, coordinate and carry out the single largest mass murder in American history, when we had him dead in our sights under President Clinton.

THEN, I would like to see ALL of the Felons who still inhabit the Executive branch held accountable for ALL of the heinous crimes perpetrated either directly by them or under their authority. That is the ONLY way this country and its people will be able to send a clear message to the world that the last EIGHT YEARS was NOT done on our behalf.

The slogan of the Democratic party should be: Impeach & Imprison!!!

Things he is saying
I preface this remark to say that I will not be voting for either candidate; I'm more likely to to close my eyes and place my finger on the screen hoping not to select any candidate with a "D" or an "R" by their name.

But in a speech today Obama stated that he is not a fan of the "economics of current administration," which to me is a scary statement. The economics he holds with such disdain are still the fundamental principles for which this country we're built upon. Many ideas and thoughts of Obama's campaign scream socialism, and if that's not a scary thought to the "average" hard-working American, than I don't know what is. Both campaigns and our current Congress should spend less time blaming monetary and fiscal policy and place more blame where it should be, on the mis-management of PRIVATE companies. In my opinion, the only thing that might have changed what has happened in the last couple of years, from a government standpoint, was the repeal of the Glass - Stegal Act (the act which allowed investment banks to merge with commercial banks). The gross incompetence of CEOs on wall street is most to blame, and to me, out of all the Ivy League grads on Wall St. it is amazing that only one company (Goldman Sachs) remotely got it right. I think to hold the government responsible for CEO greed and mismanagement is a gross misappropriation of blame. But one thing the government can do to hold those private companies to task is to let them fail (and yes I comprehend that the repercussions would be vast but I'd rather see those repercussions than have our government use deficit spending for which multiple generations will pay for), and quit letting the American people foot the multi-billion dollar bill for their screw-ups.
