“SOME MAY CALL IT TREASON” –
THE GOP TAKES A TIME-OUT

Many (not all) of the ultra-patriots peopling the Republican Party, are pulling a hissy fit of post-election pouting. They opt to sit it out while their “beloved” America finds itself hostage to a plethora of economic pitfalls. Along with the grand poobah of the mean mike Rush Limbaugh, they have decided to remain on the sideline and kibbitz as Barack Obama, the Democratic Party and the rest of the American people ride the rest of the way into rack and ruin aboard the same bus that they sent careening at top speed along the highway of senseless spending and speculation, needless war and shattered international relations.

The Republicans are amazing. After the supreme court placed them in the White House eight years ago; and, after in Ohio, stealing enough votes to win, four years ago; and after dominating the congress for six years; they seem oblivious to the mess they created in this country and in the world. Incredibly, they sit back and snipe at every effort that is made on the part of the administration to put the country’s economy and finances back in order. They reject the positive initiatives that are taken, while countering with discredited ideas, which, if they were valid, should have been employed over the past eight years. They seem to be not aware of the fact that they are the authors of the predicament in which the country now finds itself.

President Obama, with great ostentation, attempted to bring Republicans into the process. Some were gracious in responding to his overtures; others were not. Nevertheless, in regard to the stimulus package, there were no positive Republican votes in the house of representatives, and only three in the senate. That should be a lesson to the president: When somebody tells you (regardless of how politely) to kiss their ass and look toward Texas, just keep walking and avert your gaze from the Longhorn landscape.

The Republicans are playing a cynical political game, which is inimical to the good of the nation. It is a gamble; they are betting that the country will fail to come out of its tailspin. If Obama’s efforts come up short, an earsplitting chorus of “we told you so” will fill the air. If, by chance, the president were successful, the Republicans have an ace in the hole—or should I say?—“in the woodpile.” Just in case, for the first time in history, they have elected an African American to represent the Republican Party. Now, should Obama succeed, guess which Republican takes all the blame? If there’s any losing to be done, it’s Reconstruction time again: “That’s it, Buster; you had your chance; now, pack up and get your black ass out of here!”

It IS treason
These are all just more reasons that the criminals who got us in to this and all the other problems we face should be tried and convicted.. That message would not only be a clear sign to the world that the United States does NOT stand by the bush legacy, but also set the historical record straight and impervious to re-writing.

Obama has made much of Lincoln’s treatment after the civil war.

Lincoln was asked what was to be done with the soon to be ex confederate soldiers. His reply was along the lines of.. Have them go home. They may keep their horses.. They may keep their rifles. What is important is that we are brothers and must heal the country and get back to work. I’m sure the actual quote would be easy to find as Barak just used it on Lincoln’s birthday last week.

This led directly to Grant refusing Lee’s sword at Appomattox as a symbol that his army was defeated but not to be humiliated and that the former secessionist states were not to be treated as a conquered and occupied territory.

The result was that the former rebels went home with pride and belief in “the cause” intact. And this led directly to the resulting upsurge in Southern Resistance in the form of the KKK and many other groups. All you really need to know is that the KKK was founded by Nathan Bedford Forrest, one of the great Confederate generals…

What Obama doesn’t see is that as gracious as it was, it was in the long run WRONG. The fact that there was no punishment for the crimes of sedition and treason led the white south to doubt they were ever wrong and directly to the many problems of the post re-construction period including the ongoing issue of the KKK and skin heads..

I am not suggesting that every private should have been sent to prison, only that is should have been made clear not only that they had lost but that the cause had been WRONG. Without a strong and official message that the most tragic war in all of American history was not simply a disagreement about “states rights’ but was based on an immoral and even for its time, perceived by the rest of the world as illegal (Britain and most civilized nations had long ago criminalized the slave trade) there was no reason for the confederacy to be sorry about ANYTHING other than their loss. Yes, Johnson had a different and more malevolent policy that what Lincoln would have, BUT it was based on revenge and economics, not right and wrong. So they continued to pass on the legacy that it was a stately, elegant and romantic “way of life” that had been crushed, not a despicable and heinous one. To this day they cling to the stars & bars.. show off the anti-bellum mansions and take every opportunity to teach people about “their culture”.

FIRST you make clear what is right and wrong and follow through on the consequences.. and THEN you forgive
