NO TIME FOR CASTRATI

Come on, Barack, it’s time to grow a pair! It appears as though Jesse Jackson’s threat of crude surgery might have succeeded. You are the president, the leader of the country and of your party. If you expect the congress to follow your lead, you have got to get out there in front with fsome positive and forceful directions. You have got to make them fear your sting more than the ballot box.

Forget the Republicans! What part of, “I want the president to fail” and “The defeat of healthcare reform will be Obama’s Waterloo” do you not understand? The Republicans actively are working toward your miserable failure as president and as a person. They need that as fodder for any comeback from the powerless position in which they find themselves.. Your continued outstretched hand only encourages them. Close your hand, turn around and take a mailed fist to your congressional cohorts.

Make your message to the people concise and unambiguous. Say that, although they may be satisfied with their current health provider, they are being overcharged. Make them understand that the insurance company swallows twenty cent out of each dollar paid in. Let them know that their company could drop them like a ahot potato if an illness appears too costly or that it may be of long duration. Tell them their nsurance company most certainly would not have signed them up if they had a pre-existing medical condition, and would dump them if the slightest, “unknown-to-you” condition subsequently were revealed. Explain that the public option would cover all of those eventualities the insurance companies avoid. Stress that the public option is the only way to keep the insurance companies honest..

The clue: Leadership and Clarity. With a guidon of those standards, your party will follow you. The negative gnashing on the sidelines will all go for naught – unless you allow it to carry over to 2110.

Come on, Barack, prove that Jesse’s threat was nothing more than low-ball hyperbole!
