This is an encomium to a good friend and events-planner extraordinaire.)

PEDRO the PARTY PLANNER

Peter, Petros, the Rock.
Perhaps not so solid as to support a church
But, solid in commitment -- you won’t go in hock --
Nor ever fear you’ll be left in the lurch.

Peter, Peter, Peter, in business he is true to ya.
Bubbly, faithful and giving.
He is as wine-wise as Julia
And as clever as Martha Stewart Living.

Peter, the go-getter,
The party-boy at large,
Will make a party better –
Even decorate your garage.

Peter will come a-running
With what you need for a shower,
Or deck whatever hall you have with whatever flower.

If there is an event on tap,
There is no planner better.
So, drop it in Peter’s lap –
You simply could not do better.

Geography is no impediment
To this occasion-dynamo;
Send out the word; it will be heard;
Then, watch the wine a-flow.

From coast to coast he gravitates –
Atlanta to ‘Frisco Bay.
In stable or past palace gates,
Peter will find the hay.

“Corporate,” you say, “with all the works,
“In perfect business form”?
Here’s the man; he deals with jerks,
Makes “difficult” seem the norm.

When it comes to kids, forget the clowns
And all those screaming brats.
Try something new at Piper’s town:
Kid-friendly and sans rats.

A yacht, a cellar, an intimate dinner,
On the high seas or at home.
Whatever be your choice, you’ll know it’s a winner –
From Anchorage to Nome.

Be ye celebrity or common folk,
Peter will do your bidding.
He deals good humor, but it’s no joke;;
He’s pleasant but never kidding.

Peter is not a pumpkin-eater,
But he carves a mean jack-o-lantern.
He can handle an egg-beater
And build a story a la Jules Verne.

When affair-planning has you all a-twitter,
And you can find no peace,
Just give a tweet to this events-sitter
And await his “a votre service.”
