BP – PLUS

In this case, “BP” does not mean, “British Petroleum.” However, that corporation is included in the, “Plus.” This title refers to Vice President-elect Joe Biden’s prediction, prior to the inauguration, that President-elect Barack Obama soon would be tested by world events. “Plus” refers to the following:

The Bus Wreck

It was necessary to dig deeply into our depleted National cash reserves in order to drag “Bus USA” out of the ditch.

OBAMACARE

What appeared to be a positive endeavor of the administration, long-delayed healthcare legislation – for the moment – appears to be little else than a convenient platform for launching the Tea Party movement.

KOREA CONFLICT REDUX

Since 1950, the fighting in Korea never has ended, officially. It resolved into an interminable cease-fire. American troops have been positioned between the two Koreas ever since, in a perpetual state of anticipation.

Recently, that anticipation has been heightened. North Korea torpedoed and sank a South Korea warship, and in the process killed dozens of the ships crew. Resolution of this outrage currently is a main topic of international discussion.

PETROL FLOODS THE GULF OF MEXICO

A limerick is used to simplify Einstein’s Theory of Relativity:

There was a young lady named Bright,

Whose speed was far faster than light.

She set out one day

In a relative way,

And came home the previous night.

This seems applicable to our development of technology with regard to deep-sea oil extraction. Our ability to drilled miles down to and beyond the ocean’s floor has far exceeded our good sense and the length of our human arms.

ANOTHER SLAP AT THE CORNERED CAT

This weekend, a Turkish-registered ship was part of a fleet of six vessels ostensibly loaded with humanitarian goods, which attempted to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. Helicopter-borne Israeli commandoes boarded the ships, and on the Turkish ship in question, there was armed conflict that resulted in injury to some of the soldiers and the deaths of around ten of the passengers.

Old lippy Joe sometimes is accused of hyperbolic excess. With these examples, Biden’s prediction is way under on the Richter Scale of presidential testing – and still counting!
